We are called out; we are ransomed
We are not of the world we're in
We are chosen; we are blessed
To bring light to the lives of men
So Father sow Your seed
Give us life in community
Wake us from our sleep
This is Your time; this is Your place
And we are vessels for breaking

Under Your grace we are led by Your spirit
You have redeemed us by the blood of Your Son
Send down Your word; we are eager to hear it
Ready our hearts to carry Your love

You are sunlight; You are morning
Your the hope of a brand new day
You're our comfort; You are blessing
and You wipe all our tears away
So change us from within
Render miracles from our sin
Remind us once again
This is Your time; this is Your place
We are vessels for breaking

Stop Listening, Start Talking

I am a complainer. I can find something to be unhappy about in even the best circumstances. I often find myself complaining about things that were answers to previous prayers! How easy it is for me to tell myself that I deserve something 'better' or at least something different and exciting. I struggle with feeling bored or stuck or feeling like whatever I may be going through is permanent and impassible. I am easily overwhelmed by what is happening in the world, telling myself it is too much to handle. But I was SO convicted by the sermon preached at Uptown Church this past Sunday. Rev. Dave Kulp preached on the subject of the emotional life of Christians and our need to speak the truth of the Gospel into our hearts rather than listening to the ever changing voice of our emotions. I have been focused on living that out this week by diving deeper into the Word of God and reminding myself of what Jesus did to make my circumstances irrelevant to eternity. I also have had the fifth verse of the hymn Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken running through my mind. The words are so poignant and applicable to every situation.

Soul, then know thy full salvation
Rise o’er sin and fear and care
Joy to find in every station,
Something still to do or bear.
Think what Spirit dwells within thee,
Think what Father’s smiles are thine,
Think that Jesus died to win thee,
Child of heaven, canst thou repine.

It is my continuing goal to ALWAYS remind myself  of my full salvation and the Jesus who died to win it.
