Weak and wounded, sick and sore;
Jesus, ready, stands to save you,
Full of pity, joined with power.
He is able, He is able;
He is willing; doubt no more.
Come ye needy, come, and welcome,
God's free bounty glorify;
True belief and true repentance,
Every grace that brings you nigh.
Without money, without money
Come to Jesus Christ and buy.
God's free bounty glorify;
True belief and true repentance,
Every grace that brings you nigh.
Without money, without money
Come to Jesus Christ and buy.
Come, ye weary, heavy laden,
Bruised and broken by the fall;
If you tarry 'til you're better,
You will never come at all.
Not the righteous, not the righteous;
Sinners Jesus came to call.
Bruised and broken by the fall;
If you tarry 'til you're better,
You will never come at all.
Not the righteous, not the righteous;
Sinners Jesus came to call.
Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requireth
Is to feel your need of Him.
This He gives you, this He gives you,
'Tis the Spirit's rising beam.
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requireth
Is to feel your need of Him.
This He gives you, this He gives you,
'Tis the Spirit's rising beam.
Lo! The Incarnate God, ascended;
Pleads the merit of His blood.
Venture on Him; venture wholly,
Let no other trust intrude.
None but Jesus, none but Jesus
Can do helpless sinners good.
Pleads the merit of His blood.
Venture on Him; venture wholly,
Let no other trust intrude.
None but Jesus, none but Jesus
Can do helpless sinners good.

I love music. And hymns especially. I think that songs capture emotion and genuine feelings better than anything else. This is one of my favorite hymns. It talks about our sin, Christ's ability, and how we can't wait until we are sinless to go to Him. That is so awesome to know."Come, ye weary, heavy laden, Bruised and broken by the fall; If you tarry 'til you're better, You will never come at all." The song acknowledges that we are exhausted and carry a lot of baggage. It is also a reminder that this exhaustion comes from the fall and our sin. I love the line that says 'if you tarry 'til you're better, you will never come at all." It is a relief to know that we don't have to unpack that baggage or self medicate BEFORE we go to Christ. We are to hand our baggage off to Him and let Him mend our injuries. It's like you are walking and walking and walking, trying to make it to a doctor. As you are walking your injuries are getting worse and your baggage is feeling heavier. But you are so focused on getting yourself better that you don't realize that the Healer has been walking beside you, reaching out to you since you started. An example that comes to mind is when you are looking for something and you just can't find it. So you give up and BAM! You find it. Right in front of you. It happens to all of us. It is important to realize that this will be the most important thing you could ever give up on.
